I started Mary Square in 2011 after the birth of my third child Savannah. I was suffering with severe post-partum, and I was desperately trying to get back to living life rather than just surviving each day. Early one morning while feeding Savannah, I saw a verse I had written on an index card and placed over her crib. It brought me comfort and gave me hope during that dark time.
I decided to start making these Scripture cards and giving them away. After refining the design and packaging, I approached Lifeway Christian Stores about carrying them in their gift department. I got my first purchase order a few weeks later. Even though I didn't know how to manufacture the product or distribute it, I had a lot of practice living outside of a comfort zone, so I got to work and figured it out. As the company grew, I found new purpose and life in creating products that brought joy and hope to other women.
I chose the name the company Mary Square for several reasons. Mary is a special name to me. Not only is it my grandmother's name, but it also reminds me of the greatest lesson I've learned from the Bible. Mary found it better to sit with Jesus and live in the moment than to get bogged down by the daily tasks of life. She knew how important it was to really live. I added the word Square is because it reminds me of a place where people come together.
Mary Square is a community of women who support each other, love each other and make each other better. We invite you to join with us on this journey and look forward to getting to know you.
